Here’s a sneak peek from my photo session last week in Manhattan Beach with Shay, who just turned 7 months old.  He gets cuter and cuter every time I see him!  With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I’m reminded of how lucky I am to have a job that I enjoy so much.  Ok, I don’t just “enjoy” it, I LOVE IT and for that, I’m truly thankful.  I owe much of this to my wonderful clients who make my work seem like play and who are always so appreciative of the memories I capture for them.  To those clients, and to Shay’s family in particular, I say, “thank you!”

I’m sure he’s way too young to realize it, but Shay has a lot to be thankful for too…

He’s got the sweetest little face:

The prettiest big brown eyes:

and the most A-MAZ-ING eyelashes!

A couple weeks ago I shot a wedding in Huntington Beach for Emily & Jose. Their ceremony was small and intimate with only family and the closest of friends in attendance. I felt really honored having been chosen to photograph this wedding for numerous reasons, one of the main ones being that I’ve known Jose for over a decade and it was really great to see him (FINALLY) tie the knot. He couldn’t have chosen a more wonderful lady as his bride. I liked Emily the moment we met. Speaking of meeting, I think Jose has ME to thank for finding Emily. See, Jose and I were marketing majors in college and had our first marketing job together after we graduated. From then on, whenever I’d hear of a job opening at whatever company I was working at, I’d give Jose a call – I always enjoyed working with him (and I liked getting the referral bonus :-p ). Well, our last job together also happened to be where Jose met Emily, and the rest, as they say, is history  :-)  Jose, you can pay me back by lugging around my equipment at the next wedding I shoot :-p

Emily and Jose,  I’m so thrilled for you both!  I wish you lifelong happiness together  and a future that’s even more wonderful than you ever imagined…

The sky did incredible things that day:

It’s amazing what people will let you borrow when you’re in a wedding dress!

Happy new Mr.&Mrs. :

This one makes me {sigh}. Love the mood:

Emily Werren: Vanessa, I'm speechless (for the first time in my life). I had spent many, many hours, days, weeks, & months looking for a photographer for our special day. I thank God I recalled seeing your website on a mutual friends Facebook post as a 'fan'. Having you shoot our day, being that you and Jose have a great past, made it amazingly fun, special, and at times, interesting (Jose throwing me in the trash can). We both look forward to many fun shoots with you with our 'future' family. Love you lots!! ~Emily

Here’s another family I’ve been shooting for years.  We had a great session in Laguna Beach and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.  Blue skies, warm weather and a sunset to die for!  It doesn’t get much better than that.  Ahhh, life is good in SoCal.  Anyway, when I last saw them a year ago, Chantel mentioned that their party of 4 might become a party of 5 in the near future and sure enough, a year later, baby Leighton is here :-)  It was good times catching up with these guys and meeting Leighton.  Check out the sneak peek ’cause it’s 1:00 in the morning and I’m off to bed!

Here’s a sneak peek of a shoot I did last week in Manhattan Beach with my three favorite girls. Actually, it was my first time meeting the youngest – last year she was still a little bun in the oven. I love photographing this family because these girlies are always ready to ham it up for me. They make it easy and lots of fun! Stacey and Nathan, it’s always a pleasure to see you and the girls. Already looking forward to next year!
